Smoked Meats @ MAAC 3.24.12

Published March 24, 2012

The Meats @ Middletown Area Arts Collective. 3.24.12

Two Meaty sets intertwined with creative originals and smokin' covers! The meats got out the dirt funk after opening this evening with an old Phish classic, "Tweezer." They then used the underlying riff and some "Meats" funk to sandwich in between "tweezing" a Psycho Killer by the Talking Heads, and a James and the Gang classic, Walk Away. Followed by a very fun "First Tube." The first set was wrapped up with a pretty nice "Althea" of the grateful dead, and the best was saved for last I would say with a Meats original, driven by the chord progression and juicy bass line composed by the Meats' bass player, Zack Polito. Lord Dark Tooth, a nice powerful, ballad that just gets straight Ass to Pretz!

The Second set had some fun little tunes in it to start off. "Funky Bitch" to open up, followed by Herbie Hancock's "Chameleon." "Life During Wartime," brought a funky/upbeat mood to the whole place, and then things just got Hateful! With another Meats original "Hate King." Followed by what became a ROCKING,TCCIT! Hendrix stopped in with a Voodoo Chile>Carini (phish) and then a Character Zero followed by a highlight for sure, with Jay McCartney and Drew Deyo dueling it out on the drums for a nice 5 minute Drum Jam!
